CZ 75 vs CZ P-10: Which Should You Buy?
The CZ 75 and the P-10 are both 9mm pistols from the same factory, and they could hardly be more different. One is a steel, hammer-fired design from 1975; the other is a polymer striker gun from 2017.
Weight and handling
A full-size CZ 75 weighs a good deal more than a P-10 C. On the range that weight is a benefit: recoil is soft and the sights settle quickly. On the belt all day, it is a cost.
Trigger
The P-10 has one consistent striker pull on every shot. The 75 B has a long, heavy double-action first pull if carried hammer-down and a light single-action pull after that, or it can be carried cocked with the safety on. The BD version adds a decocker. Some shooters love the 75's single-action break; others prefer never having to think about two different pulls.
Carry
The P-10 C wins clearly. It is lighter and slimmer, and it fits the holsters made for the most common compact 9mm size. The 75 carries best in an outside-the-waistband holster on a stiff belt.
Range, matches and home defense
The 75, and especially the SP-01, is the easier gun to shoot well. If the pistol lives in a safe or a nightstand and gets shot a lot, that matters more than weight.
Which to buy
- Daily carry: P-10 C.
- Range, learning, matches: CZ 75 B or SP-01, and later a Shadow 2 if competition sticks.
- One gun for everything: P-10 C, then add a 75 when you want a range gun.
