CZ Scorpion EVO 3: The Complete Guide
The Scorpion is CZ's 9mm pistol-caliber platform: a simple blowback design, light, quick to handle and cheap to feed. It is sold as a short-barrel pistol and as a 16-inch carbine.
EVO 3 and Scorpion 3+
The EVO 3 is the original civilian version. The Scorpion 3+ is the updated generation with a revised handguard, trigger and ergonomics on the same basic design. If you are buying new, the 3+ is where CZ has moved the line.
Pistol or carbine?
- Pistol: short barrel, compact, treated as a handgun. Age limits and state rules for handguns apply.
- Carbine: 16-inch barrel and a stock, treated as a rifle. More velocity, easier to shoot accurately, and legal in more places.
Magazines
Standard Scorpions use Scorpion-pattern magazines, which are plentiful and inexpensive. Some variants and aftermarket lower receivers take Glock magazines. Check the listing for the exact model before buying spares.
Optics and accessories
The top rail takes any red dot. A dot is the natural sight for this gun, and many owners also add a light. Keep it simple: the Scorpion's appeal is how light and handy it is.
State rules
